We believe everyone deserves a listening ear, right when they need it.

Gedachten Makelaar connects people with screened coaches, therapists and music therapists. No waiting lists, no fixed subscriptions. You choose when, how long, and with whom.

Our goal

Why we exist

"Seeking help is not weakness. It is the first step toward more clarity in your mind."

Millions of people in the Netherlands deal daily with stress, anxiety, or feelings they can't quite place. Seeking help often feels like a big step, and waiting lists in regular care don't make it any easier.

Gedachten Makelaar was founded on the belief that this step can be smaller. By lowering the threshold, making support more accessible, and using technology to facilitate real human connection, not replace it.

We collaborate with a diverse network of professionals, including coaches and therapists who use methods from CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and other evidence-based approaches. In addition to traditional coaching, we also work with music therapists: professionals who use music as a therapeutic tool to reach emotions that words sometimes cannot.

Our values

What we stand for

Accessibility

Help when you need it, not months later. No waiting list and no subscription: you pay per minute and your first 5 minutes are free.

Safety & Trust

Every conversation is confidential. We screen every coach on experience and commitment, and check every therapist's diploma and registration with their professional association.

Humanity

Technology makes the connection; people do the work. Behind every screen is a real professional who listens and thinks along with you, in words or, when words fall short, through music.

Ready to take the first step?

What is music therapy?

"What is difficult to put into words can be expressed through music."

A music therapist uses music purposefully as a working method to support emotional and mental wellbeing. By working actively or receptively with music, you learn to recognise and regulate emotions and find new ways to express yourself.

You do not need any musical experience. Music therapy works through listening, playing, singing or improvising together, depending on what suits you.

It can help with

  • Expressing what is hard to say
  • Calming stress and tension
  • Processing grief and loss
  • Regaining grip after illness or a difficult period

Methods

Our
Approach

Every person is different. That is why we work with multiple proven methods, always tailored to what you need.

About this method

Music therapy is a recognised, experiential form of treatment in which music is used as a means to support psychological, emotional and behavioural processes.

Work can be done through active music-making (such as improvisation, rhythm, songwriting and instrumental play), receptive approaches (such as listening, reflecting and musical experience) and specialised music therapy methods such as BIM (Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music), vocal work, mindfulness-based music experiences and therapeutic composition.

Music therapy makes it possible to express, process and regulate feelings, even when they are difficult to put into words. Through the direct effect of music, emotions, patterns and inner experiences can be explored in a safe and creative way.

Example approach

Emotion into sound

Sometimes words just aren't enough.

In this method we use music as a gateway to what you feel. Not to sound "beautiful", but to be honest.

  • ·translating emotions into sound or rhythm
  • ·working with existing music that resonates with you
  • ·creating as a form of processing

This helps you release what is stuck, without having to explain everything.

* The application of the above methods is always tailored to the individual client's needs. This integrative approach allows us to offer personalised support and respond to what is needed at any given moment.

Music therapy

Music that makes space

Music can help express, process and regulate feelings when talking alone is not enough.

Music therapy is an experiential treatment method in which music is purposefully used to support emotional, cognitive, physical and social functioning.

A music therapist uses music to recognise and regulate emotions, process experiences and strengthen resilience. By actively making music, listening or applying other music therapy working methods, space is created to explore feelings, reduce tension and develop new ways of dealing with challenges.

No musical experience is needed. The therapy is tailored to your abilities, support needs and personal goals.
